Is Gluten-Free Diet Without Medical Reason Good For Your Health?

Gluten is a specific type of protein, that can be found in wheat, rye, and barley. But some foods have “stealth” gluten, like malt (which is made from barley) and hydrolyzed vegetable protein. If you consume this kind of food that do not contain gluten, they may also increase abdominal pain and diarrhea.

The most difficult step in a gluten-free diet is avoiding bread – that also includes white, wheat, marble, and rye. Also off limits are bagels, muffins, croissants, hamburger buns.

Should you eat only gluten- free with no medical reason?

A gluten-free diet becomes popular in recent years but is essential for people with gluten allergies or celiac disease, a condition which causes intestinal damage when gluten is eaten, and people without celiac disease has no heart benefits from this diet.

Dr. Ravi Dave is a cardiologist and professor of medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles Geffen School of Medicine. According to his opinion, eating gluten-free is a big fad right now, because gluten produces inflammation can lead to giving you diabetes, heart disease, dementia, a lot of things.  “We should not recommend people who don’t have gluten sensitivity or celiac disease go on a gluten-free diet,” he said.

The most important fact for people who want to stay on Gluten- free diet it is necessary to obtain adequate amounts of fiber.
